My swimming pool back in the 40's was a wash tub....we thought it was great....my neighbors Duane, Carol and myself (with shower cap on) would have fun just splashing each other and jumping into the tub...simple was good...still friends with Duane, his sister Carol pasted away many years ago...:(
This above photo was taken at Pearson Park...my father fritz and mom ellie use to take me to the park all the time....they made a party out of it...meeting neighbors and family.. dad would put me on the handle bars and off every went...for they must have rented the bikes...I feel so fortunate to have an old movie (a bit blurry) of all of us riding and playing at Pearson....my son takes his little girl out to Pearson Park all the time..walking....she's 2...
This is my cousin Rudy Gene...every summer I would spend time in Tiffin at his house...for years, I helped pick and eat sweet corn (and gained at least 5 lbs every time) climbed a cherry tree to pick sour cherries so my aunt Florence could make me a cherry merague pie...I still crave that....I use to go out and gather eggs from the chickens....what good memories I have...I learned to can pickled pears etc... I love pickled pears...they had a door trap just like in the wizard of oz....I was fasinated by that....it took us down to where we would can....
Trips to the fair...we would always go to Woodville OH festival, Tiffin, well any fair that was close by...the guy behind me was my cousin Donnie...
Oh how lucky I was to have a mom who captured all on camera....It's a memory maker...just thought I'd share my summer as a kid....I also spent time out to our cottage....

I lost many early photo's when we had a burst pipe years ago.
Loved reading and looking back through the years.
Yvonne.
Thats sad Yvonne...when ever we have a tornado warning, all my cameras and pictures go down the basement with me...LOL...I have transfered most on the little travel stick, much easier to carry to the basement....
Your childhood was so wonderful -- it is difficult not to be jealous (:
Pamela...thanks for stopping by... it was wonderful, not to be jealous, because we all have memories...hopefully good ones...
I wish someone would give me a boot in the butt, to go back to blogging....and reading blogs...it's not that I have alot going on...winter...i always say i'll do it in winter....and maybe i will....
Kids in the washtub sure brings back memories! Yes you are truly blessed to have such great pictures. Your mom must have been like me. I wanted to capture every part of my children's lives and did a pretty good job of it too according to the boxex and boxes of pictures I have. Now my kids are all grown up and have grandchildren and I sit alone in my little cottage with a cup of tea and look at the old photo's and once again I am there, back in that time reliving it all.
M.M. --- I hear ya...me too...I took pictures of my kids, but I gave them all to them...I have a few...but without my moms pictures I wouldn't have remembered a thing.
My husbands been gone for 17 years and so me and my dog buddy sit and have tea...well he sits waiting for some...LOL It's nice hearing from you...
