Where was I on 9/11.....A day I will never forget...

A day I will never forget....3 of my friends MaryEllen, Geri, Diane and I went for a shopping trip to Shipshewana, Indiana....on the 10th we shopped downtown Shipshewana, in all the cute little boutique shops...we ate, and when all the shops closed which was about 6pm. we went back to the Das Dutchman Essenhaus where we were staying to play cards....In the morning being an early bird I got up and went down to the lobby for coffee with MaryEllen...we were reading enjoying the coffee waiting for Geri and Diane to wake up...all of a sudden Diane came out and said, get up here you won't believe what just happened....we then watched the second aircraft hit the second tower... finally we did go down to get our comp breakfast and then off to shipshewana flea market....Everywhere we walked people had on the radio with updates...everyone was talking about what happened....since it took all the fun out of the day and not knowing what else we could expect, we all decided to start our tip home...we needed gas...so did every other car heading that way....they closed all the credit cards, had to be cash to pay for the gas... thank goodness we had some cash left...but I can't remember a day I was so frightened...it's the unknown that gets ya....So many people died that day....my heart goes out to all the people who lost someone...Life gets more complicated every day...

welcome to my world of poetry said...

When I first heard the news I was at the cemetary placing flowers on my husband's grave .....it was the third anniversary of his passing,
People passing by was talking about it, on my return home put the tv on and was horrified.
This year whilst in New York we visited Ground Zero and the atmosphere is one I will never forget. It was very humbling each person deep in their own private thoughts. Having been to Ground Zero I can understand what is being shown on the tv.
