Those Fun Snowy Days way back when....

This is my dad Fritz and I on the sled at the top of the hill we made....our garage which was pretty ugly was the background of the snow hill...my dad and I piled the snow up so we could slide down. Now our lot where we lived was very small. But my dad always made the best of what we had...Fun.. in the summer we had veggies and flowers growing, and in the winter we made snow hills...
The above picture is my dog Trixie and me, out on the lake that has turned to ice....and of course on top was all the snow...
Yes that is me ice skating...I have a picture somewhere where I skated with a chair to hold me up... of course there was no one around but my family for this was out to my cottage....just me, mom, dad and hot chocolate...we would go into the cottage and it was freezing in there, but mom would turn on the stove and heat up some milk which she brought with us, so we could have hot chocolate, with marshmellows....
And there is mom pulling me on the sled...would I remember all those wonderful times with mom and dad and the hot chocolate, if it wasn't for the pictures....I don't think so....that's why I feel so fortunate to have had parents who took all those pictures.. Lake Erie at Maumee Bay was where all this took place...I go out there now, and it looks nothing like what it did back in the good old days...
Well it will be a new year Sunday, and I hope we all have NEW wonderful memories to make.... HAPPY NEW YEARS!

Ah yes Judy those days when as children we loved the snow, how we would play for hours. I had no father to play with as he passed away when I was three but I did have an older brother.
Thanks for recalling your memories and mine,

Happy New Year to you and a BIG thank you for your continued support.
Yvonne.

What sweet pics and memories. Many of mine are so similar to yours. I grew up in Hillsdale MI, and we always skated on the mill pond, and they would drive cars out onto Baw Beese Lake there. We always put an ice shanty out on the ice with our last name on it, left it out there until the ice got soft, for ice fishing. Life was so simple and so good back then, wasn't it???? We're very lucky to have been young during that time frame. Our kids, and grandkids will never experience the simplicity of life that we did.

Happy New Year to you and yours, dear Judy! Christmas has finally been put away and I now have more time to concentrate on my blogging. I'm looking forward to some quiet days ahead:-)

Such a wonderful post and yes, you're very lucky you had parents who took a lot of pictures! I only have a small handful of pictures of me as a little girl, my parents were not big picture takers obviously. lol I so enjoyed reading of your memories at the cottage with your mom and dad during the winter. My dad would make us an ice rink in our backyard and I remember many hours skating round and round:-) Until my brothers shooed me out so that they could play hockey!!! As for sledding, at the back of where we lived, there was a creek with a hill and oh what fun we'd have sledding down that hill. We had toboggans but sometimes it was even more fun sliding down with a cardboard box! lol

Looking forward to another year of friendship with you!! xoxo

Thank you for your message, where did you get the book Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk? I sent some books to America last week but don't know if they arrived.
Pleased you liked it.
