GRANDMA TIME by Lori Schuster (Vanderlende)

It's January...it's the time we take down the tree, and clean up and organize our closets, etc...well while cleaning (starting in the basement) I found a poem written by my daughter Lori for her grandma's.. The above picture is her playing with Peter and Christopher at Christmas 2002....anyway this poem is so beautiful and touching....she is such a good writer, and thats not just a mom talking....LOL

GRANDMA TIME

It's not just a look
of a word or a smile.
It's not just a place
to escape for a while.
~~
It's not just the warmth
of a soft knowing hug.
It's not just a string
in the heart that is tugged.
~~
It's not just the memory
the scent of the spice.
It's not just the comfort
of love without price.
~~
It's not just a world
where small children are kings.
It's not just the glamour
or high heels and rings.
~~
It's not just sweet silence
or stories in bed.
It's not just a shoulder
for small weary heads.
~~
It's not just a tear
or a wave at the door.
It's just something 'bout Grandma's
that makes you want more...

By Lori Schuster

When Lori wrote this it was for her Grandmas, but I have to say she grew into this wonderful grandma herself...she is what you would call a FUN Grandma...just ask her grandkids...

A wonderful poem Judy, one that brought tears to my eyes.
My eldest son hasn't spoken to me for a year.....I don't know why which means I haven't seen his three children. He is divorced and I don't know the address of my ex daughter -in-law, She lost her mother before christmas so I am the only grandparent my son's children has.

You asked the other week whether my book "Written from the Heart" was on sale in the US, well I have just signed up with Amazon.com which covers the world so if you
still would like one you can order from there.(Don't go on Ebay some seller is trying to sell it for four pounds sterling more than I priced it.)

Yvonne...google her, don't give up. Shame on your son...life is too short for that...at least the grandkids should get to know their grandma...I don't see my grandkids that much...everyone is speaking but they all have a full life...it isn't until one gets our age to realize how important it is for family...I wish for the best for you...

I ordered and it said it was the last one...I'm excited to get it... thanks for getting back to me...and reading Lori's poem..:)

What a beautiful heart-felt poem Judy. Your daughter I'm sure is enjoying being a grandma as much as you have.
